The defendant M.B.

(21 years old), brought to court with an indictment from the District Prosecutor's Office - Sofia, was found guilty of the attempted murder of her minor son, who was in a helpless state.

The serious crime is qualified under Art.

As of November 2020, the defendant M.B.

lived in the village of Skravena, Sofia district.

On the evening of 24/11/2020,

she had a telephone conversation with the father of her children, during which the two quarreled.

The cry of her 3-month-old son S.B.

made her even more angry.

She brought him closer and with her fingernails, she hurt him on the cheek.

She picked him up and slammed him into the bed.

She continued to strike the child all over his body, including his head, slamming him into the headboard of the metal bed. 

A 3-month-old baby was admitted to hospital with head injuries and fractures

The witnesses of what happened - the defendant's mother and sister, who tried to stop her.

A signal was immediately sent to the emergency number 112. The medical team that arrived at the scene determined the serious condition of the minor child.

The victim was transported to the "Pirogov" UMBALSM, where he underwent emergency surgery.

It is clear from the conclusion of the forensic medical examination that the 3-month-old S.B.

a closed craniocerebral injury was caused, which would inevitably lead to death without the timely application of highly specialized medical assistance.

The prosecutor asked the court to impose a sentence of 20 years of "imprisonment" under a strict regime to be served, which was granted by the court.

The defendant was also sentenced to pay non-property damages caused to her minor son S.B. in the amount of BGN 50,000.

The verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed within the statutory period before the Sofia Court of Appeal,
