Chinese President Xi Jinping used two days of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to demonstrate a coalition with Russia against the United States.

At the same time, the Chinese leader disappointed the Russian dictator regarding the increase in gas imports.

This is stated in the Bloomberg article.

China is vacillating over whether to move closer to Russia.

This is evidenced by the lack of progress in concluding large energy agreements, as well as specifics in other areas of economic cooperation between these countries.

"Xi's plan is to find a balance. He wants Russia to survive, but he does not want the PRC to be seen as a state that fully supports the Russian Federation," said Dongshu Liu, an expert on Chinese politics at the City University of Hong Kong (City University of Hong Kong).

The problem for Xi, he said, is that in the heat of war, if Russia finds itself at a disadvantage and needs China's economic and military support to survive, he will have to make a final choice.

"The joint statements of the leaders, published after their talks, contained many theses that China had long made public against the background of US policy. Both leaders promised to prevent "color revolutions", called for an investigation into the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, and expressed concern about the plans of the US and Great Britain to cooperate with Australia on nuclear submarines and called on NATO to respect the "diversity of civilizations," the article said.

It will be recalled that political scientist and publicist Andriy Piontkovsky expressed the opinion that Xi Jinping made a very serious mistake regarding Putin.

According to him, the leader of the People's Republic of China "appointed Putin for a six-year reign in Moscow from the 24th to the 30th year."
