Yuriy Poita, a researcher at Taiwan's National Defense and Security Research Institute, believes that Chinese leader Xi Jinping supported Putin's nuclear threats.

According to the expert, it is important for the Chinese president to show "

his positive image and his rationality".

He expressed this opinion in an interview with TSN.ua.

"In the Western information space and Western diplomacy, this thesis was also dominant when China allegedly made a statement that it would not like the use of nuclear weapons and is against nuclear threats. The vast majority of experts perceived this as a deterrent factor, but in fact a very powerful

one message from the Chinese leader to the Russian president.

I was very skeptical about this," he said.

After watching the final conference between Xi and Putin on March 21, the researcher and his Western colleagues reached three conclusions.

"

First of all,

China has not said anything new. If you open the Chinese documents on the use of nuclear weapons, it is written in black and white that China will not use nuclear weapons and is against their use in general. Therefore, China has not said anything new

Secondly

, he did not name the addressee of this statement

and did not say that he is against nuclear blackmail by the Russian Federation.

The Russian president also says that he is against the use of nuclear weapons and against nuclear blackmail.

Thirdly

,

before the start of a full-scale invasion, China said that all sides should keep a cool head, it would not like to see a war on the European continent.

Later, during the American meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization last September, China again said that it allegedly would

not like to see what is happening in Ukraine.

But this did not affect the Russian president

.

These words were rhetorical and did not actually change his decision regarding the invasion of Ukraine and regarding the continuation of the mission of missile strikes.

Therefore, we came to the conclusion that these statements by the Chinese leader

were a cheap way to demonstrate his positive image and his rationality.

I am very critical of the fact that China will react negatively and that it will deter the Russian Federation from using nuclear weapons," Poita emphasized.

We will remind, at the final press conference in Moscow, Putin said that the news that Great Britain will supply Ukraine with shells with depleted uranium, which are intended for Challenger-2 tanks, shows that the West has decided to fight against Russia to the "last Ukrainian"

.

He also noted that in such a case, Russia will be forced to respond accordingly.

That is, it is a veiled nuclear threat.

Sitting next to him, Xi Jinping did not react to this in any way.

Although there were theories circulating in the Ukrainian and Western information space that

India and China were countries that influenced Putin and Russia not to use nuclear weapons.
