Ukrainian military personnel who arrived in
the US
to learn how to operate the Patriot air defense system are already graduating.
This is reported by
CNN
.
The American military stated that Ukrainians learn everything very quickly, even under the conditions of an accelerated course, so they were given additional intensive training, which is not always available even to American colleagues who have completed the course.
"Our assessment is that Ukrainian soldiers are impressive and very quick learners due to their extensive knowledge of air defense and combat zone experience," said Brigadier General Shane Morgan.
Thus, the Patriot air defense system will be deployed in Ukraine in a few weeks, which is much earlier than originally planned.
This will provide the country with additional protection against Russian missiles, which Ukraine needs from the very beginning of a full-scale invasion.
At the same time, the US noted that the two Patriot systems that the Ukrainians will receive will not be able to fully cover the entire sky above the country, but it is much better than the defense systems currently used by the air defense forces.
And the U.S. military said a group of 67 men and women at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, trained from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. six days a week for 10 weeks.
All of them were selected by Ukrainian military leaders for training in the USA, because they have good previous experience and education.
"I think just because of their fighting experience at home, they were able to absorb things very easily - the best I've seen so far, and I've coached a lot of countries," one of the American coaches told CNN.
One of the senior officials of the US Ministry of Defense emphasized that people with experience arrived at Fort Sill, and one of the commanders of the unit has already managed to shoot down more than one Russian missile since the beginning of the war.
"It was an honor to meet these soldiers," said a senior Fort Sill official.
It will be recalled that it was previously reported that the USA announced that it would provide Ukraine with Abrams M1A1 main battle tanks.
This is the basic version of the tank, older than the M1A2.
The weapons will be delivered by the fall of 2023
.
In addition, we previously reported that the United States of America believes that Russian troops will be able to try to launch a new offensive in Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Invaders
are likely to launch attacks from several directions
