One of the three convicted for the murder of the student Stoyan Baltov 15 years ago asked to be released early.

Sofia City Court, however, did not accept the request of 40-year-old Alexander Danailov.

The medical student was beaten up in a fight on the night of December 5, 2008 in front of the former Amnesia discotheque in Studentski Grad with numerous kicks to the head and neck.

The freshman from Sliven and his friends leave the disco and are caught up by 7-8 boys a few meters from the establishment.

After a fight and a few insults, a fight ensued, in which Baltov was fatally kicked in the head.

Alexander Danailov, Svetlozar Stoilov and Vili Georgiev are accused of the murder.

The three were sentenced to 18 years in prison each for murder with particular cruelty and hooligan motives, but it turned out that the last two are not in the country, they fled and are hiding.

Vili Georgiev was detained in South Africa, but later released.

Thus, only Danailov, who committed the crime under the influence of alcohol, went to prison.

He started serving his sentence in December 2014, under an initial "strict regime", changed 4 years later to "general regime", and since June 2021 he has been in an open-type Prison Dormitory.

During his parole case, it became clear that he was being rewarded and employed.

From the criminal record report, it is clear that, in addition to the murder conviction, there are also four other previous convictions.

Stoyan Baltov, the murderer of the student arrested in South Africa, made a living as a dock worker

So far he has served just over 9 years in prison and about 3 years off the job, he has 5 years and 7 months left.

However, the court is adamant that although he has served more than a second of his imposed sentence, there is no indisputable evidence that he has actually reformed.

"It can be assumed that he is a person who in the conditions of the prison demonstrates relatively good behavior, but outside the protected environment persistently leads a criminal lifestyle", reasoned the magistrates and refused him early release.

The decision is not final and can be appealed, writes "24 Chasa".
