Investigations by the Ministry of Justice's earthquake-related crime investigation unit identified 1,325 suspects who may have been involved in shoddy and illegal construction methods in the 11 counties hit hard by the disaster. BTA reported.

Arrest warrants were issued for 305 people, of which 298 were arrested (104 of them were contractors).

Four of the suspects were found to be abroad and 58 suspects lost their lives in the earthquakes.

In the meantime, it became clear that a builder of a newly built block in the city of Antakya (Hatai district), which collapsed during the earthquakes, fled to Northern Cyprus (in the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognized only by Ankara - author's note).

Turkey has requested his extradition from the Turkish Cypriot authorities.
