The Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova

Dr. Eng. Rositsa Karamfilova, an expert with many years of experience in the field of environmental management, participated in a high-level UN conference "Water for Sustainable Development".

The event takes place at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York and was officially opened today - March 22, when we also celebrate World Water Day, the press center of the MoEW announced.

Minister Karamfilova will participate in the general debate, during which a mid-term review of the implementation of the goals of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" 2018-2028 will be made and actions for accelerated achievement of the goals related to the waters of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Addressing water challenges and their importance in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is an extremely high priority issue on a global scale.

The conference, which is dedicated to these challenges, will be attended by high-level representatives of all stakeholders related to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 "Clean water and sanitation", including heads of state, ministers, heads of organizations from the UN system, intergovernmental organizations, international financial institutions and other international organizations, NGOs and civil society organizations, the academic community. 

The eco-minister revealed whether there will be a water regime

On March 23, the minister will participate in the discussions within the framework of an interactive dialogue on the topic "Water for climate, sustainability and the environment".

The talks will focus on actions to address the challenges of climate change and water management.

At the end of the conference, an Agenda for Action on Water will be announced, which will contain voluntary commitments by UN Member States and all stakeholders to accelerate progress towards achieving the water-related Sustainable Development Goals.
