The Belarusian authorities use the mediation of at least 30 countries to circumvent Western sanctions, said the head of the People's Anti-Crisis Office, Paval Latushka, at the round table "Sanctions policy in relation to the Lukashenka regime: problems and effectiveness", which is being held on March 22 in Warsaw, BPN reports.

"This problem can be solved only by establishing trade quotas based on the volume of trade before the start of the war [in Ukraine]," the politician believes.

Also, in his opinion, sanctions should be structured to facilitate monitoring of their implementation.

"The regime's ability to create one-day companies and fictitious transfer of assets hinders the effectiveness of sanctions," Paval Latushka said.

He called one of the problems the lack of harmonization of sanctions against Belarus and Russia, which gives Belarus the opportunity to bypass them through Russia.

"This legal smuggling is used to deliver critical components for the military-industrial complex of both countries," Latushka added.

In addition, the politician noted "gaps in the system of financial settlements", which enable Lukashenka's regime to circumvent economic sanctions.

Speaking about personal sanctions by the European Union and individual democratic states, Latushka drew attention to their lack of scale and the presence of bureaucratic obstacles: "Our partners state that there is an unspoken limit to the introduction of personal restrictions: 5-10 people, as was proposed in the last package of the European Union, and no more.

Although the NAU team proposed 340 surnames.

At the same time, Lukashenka's regime recognizes the damage caused by sanctions, noted the deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet.

"Even Belarusian statistics, which have every reason to exaggerate [reality] on the part of the regime, reflect their effect.

Already today, the regime is experiencing difficulties with receiving foreign currency.

"For 2022, gold and foreign exchange reserves have decreased by 500 million dollars," he said.
