Due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm, wheat and other crops have suffered a lot in Modinagar and other parts adjacent to Delhi.
Farmers say that the wheat crop was about to be ready in the next 20 days, but now 3/4 of the wheat crop has fallen.
Talking to NDTV, he said that due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm, 75% of my wheat crop has been destroyed. Now we will not be able to use it even for husk due to crop failure.
Significantly, along with the wheat crop in Modinagar and surrounding areas, the crops of mustard and many important vegetables have also been destroyed.
We have met the District Magistrate and other senior officers and demanded compensation.
Farmers have suffered a lot in this area due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms.
The government should announce a relief package for the affected farmers at the rate of ₹ 15 to ₹ 20000 per acre.
Here, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Tuesday that according to the initial report, the recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms have not affected the standing Rabi crops like wheat much.
However, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister said that the Center is yet to receive the ground reality information from the State Governments.
Tomar said that although the state governments are still assessing the damage caused to the standing crops.
He said that after conducting the crop survey, the state governments can use the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) to provide immediate relief to the farmers.
He said that after submitting the memorandum, the central government can provide more funds from the National Disaster Relief Fund.
Wheat is the main rabi crop and its harvesting is going on in some states.
Other rabi crops include mustard and gram.
Due to Western Disturbance, there has been unseasonal rain, hailstorm and strong winds in many parts of the country for the last three days.
