[Reporter Ding Yi/Taipei Report] Asia Pacific Telecom operates a convenient SMS service for enterprises. When accepting two corporate users to apply for phone numbers, they did not implement user identity checks. One of the corporate users was suspected of giving more than 100 phone numbers to fraudulent groups. The country The Communications Commission (NCC) fined Asia Pacific Telecom heavily yesterday, with a total of 4.5 million yuan for the three cases.

Weng Baizong, deputy chairman of the NCC, said that in June last year, the Criminal Police Department asked Asia Pacific to provide information in order to trace the source of the fraudulent text messages.

After the NCC learned about it, the investigation found that Asia-Pacific did not implement user identity verification, and it was divided into three cases: "Comprehensive Management Investment Consulting Enterprise Club", "Enterprise Convenience SMS Service" and "Starlink Media".

"Comprehensive Management Investment Consulting Enterprise Club" applied for 155 business numbers from Asia Pacific, of which 70 numbers were reported to the 165 anti-fraud hotline by the public and stopped talking. The amount of fraud exceeded 100 million yuan.

In this case, Asia Pacific was fined 2.5 million yuan.

The "Enterprise Convenience SMS Service" case and the "Starlink Media" case imposed fines of 1.5 million and 500,000 respectively.

Asia Pacific Telecom emphasized that as soon as it was informed, it stopped the phone number involved in the case, and cooperated with the investigation to freeze its nearly 10 million yuan in funds to reduce the victim's damage.
