The French singer and screenwriter Emmanuelle has died at the age of 59, producer Jean-Luc Azoulet announced, quoted by BTA.

"Her health has been fragile for some time. She was a true artist, a wonderful girl. She was a singer and screenwriter. We are very sad," the producer said.

Emmanuelle, whose real name is Emmanuelle Motaz, died on March 16 in a Paris hospital.

The singer is best known for her song "Premier baiser", released in 1986, which later became the theme tune of the TV series "First Kisses", which aired from 1991 to 1995.

In 1987, Emmanuel again reaped success with the song "Rien que toi pour m'endormir".

Subsequently, her singing career waned and she turned to writing scripts, including for the series "Ellen and the Boys", directing short films and photography.
