Russian President

Vladimir Putin

hopes that the immunity of the head of state will save him from the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Putin is very scared that some country can hand him over to a tribunal for a lot of money.

Political scientist Mykola Davidyuk

expressed this opinion in an exclusive interview with

TSN.ua.

According to him, the decision of the ICC on the arrest warrant for the President of the Russian Federation is "normal, positive, and it will move."

"There are some cautions that are an object of hope for Putin - they say that the president is immune and is not responsible for anything. Our lawyers in The Hague say - ok, as long as it does not concern war crimes. War crimes, crimes against humanity,

genocide - a precedent that anyone will be held accountable.

These are the three parameters by which world leaders have been held accountable. Wasn't that the case with Nazi Germany, Serbian leaders? Slobodan Milosevic died in prison awaiting sentencing.

They say you can't impeach the president another country. It's possible, there were such things too.

They say - you can't judge in absentia. It's also possible - Nuremberg was conducted in absentia, Balkan cases," Davydyuk said.

According to him, Putin "on the contrary, now he will worry that

any country can hand him over to Ukraine or any European country for money

."

"To release him as a typical criminal, but for an atypical, extremely large sum, is just what scares Putin very much," the expert added.

Davidyuk also suggested that Putin would face the fate of the executed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

We will remind, on March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova.

They are charged with a war crime - the illegal mass deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine handed over to the ICC more than 40 volumes of materials on the forcible deportation of children - more than 1,000 pages.

From now on, Putin can be arrested in any of the 123 countries that recognize the decision of the International Criminal Court, and brought before the tribunal.

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, said that Putin will stand trial in The Hague, regardless of the position of Russia, which does not recognize the jurisdiction of this court.

The warrant for Putin's arrest will remain in effect for the rest of his life - until he appears in court.

Ukraine also calls on prosecutor Karim Khan to investigate the shooting of a captured Ukrainian soldier by the Russians.

In response, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against the judges of the International Criminal Court and Prosecutor Karim Khan personally.
