Scientists have discovered a new "rare and giant" spider, Euoplos Dignitas.

According to ABC News, it has a diameter of about a 50-cent coin and lives in a forest area in the central region of Queensland in Australia.

It builds its burrows in the black soil around Eidsvold and Monto, west of Bundaberg.

The name of the species comes from Latin, which translates as dignity or greatness.

The spider does not pose any threat to humans.

The researchers said that these spiders usually spend six to seven years in their burrows, until the males crawl out in search of a female.

By the way, females are larger in size and have a body length of almost five centimeters.

It is also noted that the species is in danger of extinction.

"The males of this species are honey red in color - they are really stunning. Females are often darker and stockier because they spend most of their lives underground," said arachnologist Michael Ricks.
