Hungary refused to participate in the joint purchase of 1 million ammunition for Ukraine according to the EU plan.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijártó explained his country's position as a desire for peace.

This is written by Index publication.

"Hungary, as before, does not want to supply weapons to Ukraine, we want peace, we do not take part in this action," said Szijártó.

At the same time, the head of the Hungarian foreign policy department said that Budapest "will not prevent others from doing what they want."

According to Sijarto, the EU plan envisages the allocation of 1 billion euros from the European Peace Fund to compensate for the military aid of member countries and an additional 1 billion for the joint purchase of ammunition.

About 10 million euros of Hungary's contribution to the European Peace Fund is used for other purposes, in particular for ensuring stability in the Western Balkans and reducing migration to the EU.

We will remind you that the European Union agreed on a plan to purchase ammunition for Ukraine.
