Within the past day, the police found 40 drivers who drove after drinking alcohol - 29 of them drove after drinking alcohol from 0.5 to 1.2 per thousand, 11 - with more than 1.2 per 1000, and seven refused to be tested.

This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

12 people were found to be driving under the influence of narcotic substances or their analogues, and six refused to be tested.

Yesterday, 10,912 motor vehicles and 14,041 drivers and passengers were checked.

2907 slips and 809 acts for established administrative violations were drawn up.

2,780 motor vehicles and 3,149 drivers and passengers were checked from the aggregated data using the "linear control" method.

779 slips and 157 acts were drawn up for detected violations.

Five drivers were found to have driven after consuming 0.5 to 1.2 parts per million of alcohol and two - with more than 1.2 with more than 1.2 parts per million.

They were not found sitting behind the wheel under the influence of narcotic substances or their analogues.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs caught 24 drunk and 8 drugged drivers in one day

The data is interim and includes results summarized up to 4:00 p.m.

One person died and 42 others were injured in 18 road accidents in Bulgaria during the past 24 hours, the Ministry of the Interior announced earlier.

In Sofia, there were 15 light accidents and three serious ones, with six injured.
