The Moscow Patriarchate published an appeal to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in which the hierarchs of the UOC-MP noted that their church "suffers from raider raids."
This is stated in the appeal of the Holy Synod of the UOC MP to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
According to the information of the Synod of the UOC MP, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, the church was the first among other religious organizations to strongly condemn military aggression and called on its believers to stand up for the defense of their native land.
"For a long time, our Church has been suffering from illegal re-registrations of communities, raiding of churches, and discrediting in the mass media with the spread of a large number of groundless accusations. These accusations do not correspond to reality, but they serve as a prerequisite for discrimination of the rights of Ukrainian citizens on religious grounds and talks about banning Ukrainian of the Orthodox Church," says the appeal of the UOC MP.
Also, the Synod of the UOC MP noted that most of the draft laws received negative conclusions from the Scientific and Expert Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and contain a large number of comments and reservations regarding the underlying violations of the constitutional rights of citizens, such as freedom of conscience and religion.
"But the difficult situation in the religious sphere worsened critically after it became known that the state authorities intend to evict our monastic community from the territory of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which the monks literally raised from the ruins thirty-five years after its restoration activity of this ancient monastery," reads the appeal to Volodymyr Zelensky, signed by Metropolitan Onufriy.
We will remind that the members of the Synod of the UOC-MP led by Onufry came to the Office of the President of Ukraine and announced that they "
convey the position of the UOC-MP to the leadership of the state
."
