Individual cases of rising prices in Croatia are presented as overall inflation, due to currency conversion... Croatia is the latest "gum" for conspiracy theory seekers.

Their goal is more than clear: to keep Bulgaria out of the way of the European family, and the traces of their manipulation are easily traceable to the Kremlin and the Kremlin's troll factories.

However, the data refutes the claims and manipulations, as long as one is willing to look at them and not at the emotionally charged propaganda.

It turns out that

25% of goods in Croatia have actually become cheaper.

That's right... not only have they not gone up in price, they've gone down in price.

Only 10% of the goods there have increased in price, and over 60% have remained unchanged.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania

were the last to join the Eurozone before that.

Their development and condition became a very predictable framework for how Croatia would develop as well.

And it developed exactly as expected.

There were also no price changes in the Baltic States after the currency changeover.

The forecast for Bulgaria is the same.

Joining the Eurozone can accelerate economic growth.

Why then are some interested in working in the opposite direction?

80% of EU citizens (in countries that have already adopted the Euro) believe that the adoption of the single currency has improved the business environment and made travel much easier.

For comparison - after a direct "collision" with reality, Croats who now support the euro are 54% of the population, and last year they were 45%.

That is: since the adoption of the single currency there has been a GROWTH in support.

It is certainly not due to a deteriorating environment or increased inflation.

Misinformation is not another point of view

!

After Croatia replaced the kuna with the euro on January 1, 2023, even more misinformation related to the adoption of the euro began to spread in Bulgaria.

A large part of the false narratives repeat already known and repeatedly refuted myths related to the negatives of eurozone membership.

See what are the most common fears about the adoption of the euro and whether they are justified in the video.

It is part of the campaign, which is implemented in partnership of the EC with Factcheck Bulgaria and whose purpose is to show how disinformation works and why it is important to recognize it.

The campaign is implemented in the context of the "Bulgarian Coalition Against Disinformation" #BGvsDisinfo, which brings together representatives of European and international institutions, Bulgarian government departments, media, fact-checkers and non-governmental organizations, which join efforts to counter disinformation that is spread in Bulgaria.
