The average gross salary in the Vidin region in the fourth quarter of 2022 is BGN 1,256.

This was reported to BTA by the head of the "Statistical Research - Vidini5" department, Tsvetan Tsvetkov. The data cited by him also show that in 2022, the average salary in the district increased by about BGN 200 - from BGN 1,088 in January to BGN 1,284 in December.

In the last quarter of 2022, a higher average salary was recorded in the public sector in the Vidin region, and by month it was BGN 1,598 for October, BGN 1,423 for November and BGN 1,596 for December, Tsvetkov pointed out.

"The average salary in the private sector is lower, but for the last quarter of last year it already exceeded BGN 1,000, and for October it was BGN 1,047, for November it was BGN 1,028, and for December it was BGN 1,018," added the head of the Department of Statistics studies - Vidin". 

In the fourth quarter of last year, the average salary in the "Education" sector was the highest in the Vidin region - BGN 1,957, Tsvetkov informed.

And he added that the lowest average wages are in administrative and auxiliary activities, as well as in the field of construction and trade - below BGN 1,000 (BGN 909 in construction; BGN 965 in trade). 

Economists: Bulgarians have a hard time making ends meet

In the last quarter of last year, only two regions had a lower average salary than Vidin - Kyustendil (1251 BGN) and Blagoevgrad (1237 BGN), said Tsvetkov. 

He also announced that there were 16,175 persons employed in Vidin region for the month of October;

for November – 16,269 people;

for December – 15,773 people.

The number of people employed in the private sector in the Vidin region is greater - 9,013 people according to data for December, with 6,760 people employed in the private sector in the same month.

The largest number of people employed in the Vidin region is in the processing industry - 2,504 people at the end of December, followed by healthcare and social activities - 2,390 people, added Tsvetkov.

"If we follow the movement of employed persons, we see that towards the end of the year there is a slight drop in employment, which is traditional," he pointed out.

"Traditionally, during the summer months, employment increases, which is due to "seasonal" employment," explained the head of the "Statistical Research - Vidin" department.
