Hours after the CEO of a technology firm was killed by a speeding SUV in Mumbai's Worli area on Sunday morning, the Worli police arrested the accused driver.

Police said, "Accused driver Sumer Merchant (23) has been arrested after registering a case under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)."

In this case, now the police will present the accused driver in the court.

Earlier, Rajalakshmi Ramakrishnan, CEO of a technology firm, was killed after being hit by a speeding SUV in Mumbai's Worli area, the police officer said. 

Worli police said that Krishnan, a resident of Dadar-Matunga area, had gone out for morning walk when the incident took place.  

The incident took place at around 6.30 am near Worli Dairy, a few meters from the Worli-Bandra Sea Link, when the deceased was returning from her morning walk with her husband.  

Police said that the driver of the car has been identified as Sumer Merchant.

He has also been injured in this incident.

He has been taken into custody. 

The police have also registered a case against the driver under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). 

Police said, 'Blood test of the accused has also been taken to find out whether the accused had consumed alcohol or not.

The car driver works in a private company and lives in Taddev area of ​​Mumbai. 

Further investigation is going on in this matter.
