Russia's general spring offensive is nearing its climax.

Russian troops cannot complete the tactical capture of Bakhmut, so the offensive of the "Wagner" group in the area of this city in Donbas is probably also approaching its climax.

This is stated in the ISW report.

The day before, the occupiers desperately attacked Avdiyivka in order to resume offensive operations on Vugledar, probably partly with the aim of withdrawing Ukrainian reserves from the western part of Donetsk region.

ISW writes about this with reference to the spokesman of the Tavrian Defense Forces, Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi.

The military officer also notes that the Russians' offensive on Avdiivka recently led to their heavy losses, apparently an entire company.

Russia's losses in the Vugledar region seriously impair Moscow's offensive capabilities in the Donetsk region.

Dmitrashkivskyi said that Russian forces have reinforced units of the 155th Separate Marine Brigade (currently deployed in the Vugledar area) with reserve forces of the 98th Guards Airborne Division.

At the same time, the Russian 155th Marine Brigade suffered catastrophic losses in manpower and equipment during repeated failed attacks on Vugledar in November 2022 and February 2023, and the Russian military leadership is likely to rely heavily on the reserve units of the 98th Airborne Division , to offset and offset the attacks of the 155th Marine Brigade.

losses

Taking into account the above, as well as a number of other factors, ISW concludes that now the general Russian spring offensive is probably approaching its climax.

Ongoing Russian offensives along the Svatove-Kreminna line, around Bakhmut, as well as along the Avdiyivka-Donetsk and Vugledar front lines have yielded little more than additional tactical gains in the first few months of 2023.

We will remind you that the Armed Forces of Ukraine predict the continuation of Russian offensive actions in the Avdiyivka and Maryinka areas in the near future.

As for the Zaporozhye direction, there is a certain slight lull, although positional battles are being fought there.

According to Serhiy Cherevaty, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian invaders

tactically cannot complete the operation to capture Bakhmut.

All they have to do is launch "inertia" attacks.
