The West Bank is slowly becoming the center of terrorist attacks.

In another terrorist attack in the West Bank city of Huwara, an Israeli former US Marine was shot and seriously wounded.

According to the Times of Israel, the gunman was taken into custody after a brief chase.

The victim, 40, was named David Stern, a former US Marine who works as a weapons instructor.

US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides confirmed that Stern is also an American citizen.

According to the Times of Israel, the gunman was shot at by the first victim as well as the officers but somehow fled the scene.

The improvised "Carlo" submachine gun used in the attack, apparently dropped by the terrorist while fleeing, was also seized.

The Times of Israel reported that the gunman was taken to a hospital for treatment by military medics before being handed over to the Shin Bet for questioning.

Palestinian media gave his name as Laith Nadeem Nasser, who is from the village near Madma, south of Nablus.

CNN reported that a similar incident occurred on Thursday in the West Bank, where 4 Palestinians were killed and 23 others were injured in Jenin.

The Health Ministry said that the condition of five of the injured is serious.

In a statement, Israeli security forces said they "neutralized two operatives of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization who are suspected of significant terrorist activities."

According to CNN, Hamas announced in a statement that the two Palestinians killed in Jenin were its members.
