A man from Massachusetts, USA, tried to hire a hit man to kill his wife.

However, out of ignorance, he asked to commit the murder of a federal agent undercover.

During a January 2021 meeting with an undercover FBI agent posing as a hitman, Massimo Marenghi, 56, complained that his wife was seeking a restraining order against him.

So he asked the "killer" to help "fix" his problem.

The man provided the agent with a photo of his wife's home and detailed how to avoid surveillance cameras while committing a crime.

In addition, he told the woman's work schedule and named the color, model and license plate of her car.

During the second meeting, Marenghi gave the federal agent a $1,500 cash bond for the murder and urged him to do so soon.

Now he faces up to ten years behind bars.

In addition to the sentence, the contract killing charge carries a fine of up to $250,000.
