This Monday, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented the Friendship Medal to Andrei Guskov, Russian Ambassador to Cuba in a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry headquarters.

Anayansi Rodríguez, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs,

recognized the professionalism and dedication of the Russian official to strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries during his four years of service.

We awarded the "Friendship Medal" to the Russian ambassador, Andrei Anatolevich Guskov.

We recognized meritorious work in order to deepen historical ties of friendship and cooperation🇷🇺🇨🇺.

We highlight the impetus given to political dialogue and economic-commercial relations.

The vice minister expressed her gratitude for the donations from the Russian Government, especially those related to the production of oxygen, which made it possible to combat COVID-19 and face the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.

Guskov denounced this unilateral policy, as well as the sanctions that the US government and Europe have imposed on Russia in retaliation for the military operation in Ukraine.

He reiterated

his admiration for the Cuban people and their determination to get ahead in the face of all difficulties

, and pointed out that the island will count on the effective solidarity of his country.

Also participating in the event were Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice Prime Minister;

Yolanda Ferrer, president of the International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power;

Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, representatives of organizations and institutions and members of the diplomatic corps.
