The European Commission suggests that 17-year-olds should drive with a companion.

The purpose of the proposal is to strengthen prevention on the road and update the rules.

Statistics in our country show that over half of the serious accidents last year were caused by drivers under 30 years of age.

According to Georgi Burzakov, driving instructor and road expert, 17-year-olds are still too young to drive a car on their own.

According to him, instead of reducing the age of drivers, driving hours should be increased, BNT reported.

"Driving is not just pedaling and changing gears, it's also a responsibility. These 16-17 year olds need to know that they are criminally responsible and it's not a joke. I think 18 is a good age because they already realize that they become adults and that they are responsible for their actions," he pointed out.
