The European Union plans to approve an agreement to supply Ukraine with one million projectiles during the year for protection against Russian aggressors.

If this agreement is not signed, it will lead to difficulties.

This opinion

was expressed by

the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.

He said that he took part in the opening of the European Humanitarian Forum, where the issue of supplying ammunition to Ukraine is being discussed.

"Humanitarian needs have reached a historic high, which is exacerbated by Russia's aggression in Ukraine. We need to expand the donor base, ensure respect for international humanitarian law, and strengthen the triple bond — humanitarian aid, development and peacebuilding," the head of the EU foreign policy department wrote.

In addition, Borrell noted that if European countries do not sign the relevant agreement today, they will have problems with supplying ammunition to Ukraine.

"Together, I hope, we will complete the agreement on the provision of ammunition to Ukraine," Borrell added.

It will be recalled that it was previously reported that several countries of the European Union want to specify the initiative regarding the purchase and transfer of shells to Ukraine to counter Russian aggression.

By the end of this year, it is planned to transfer one million projectiles to the needs of the Armed Forces

.

In addition, a military expert, reserve colonel Roman Svitan, previously stated that today Russian industry is capable of producing 5,000-7,000 shells per day.

However, this is much less than the real needs of the occupiers
