The World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) has officially certified Thailand's African Horse Sickness (AHS)-free status.

As Thailand found an outbreak of African plague in horses.

For the first time on March 27, 2020, in 17 provinces, there were 610 accumulated sick animals and 568 dead animals.

In the past, the Department of Livestock Development has cooperated with network partners to carry out surveillance, control and prevention of diseases.

Until the last time the disease was found on September 10, 2020, and Thailand currently has no reports of African plague in horses for more than 2 years.

and all partner agencies under the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOU) on the elimination of African plague in horses in Thailand.

Has prepared information for requesting a disease free certification from the World Animal Health Organization.

An application for the reinstatement of AHS disease-free status was officially submitted to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) on 30 January 2023 after being suspended on 27 March 2020.

Recently, the WOAH's Animal Health Commission has reviewed the request for reinstatement of AHS disease-free status.

and a letter was sent to the Department of Livestock Development on March 13, 2023

As Thailand has taken action in accordance with Section 12.1.5 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code for reinstatement of AHS disease-free status, the Commission has appreciated the comprehensiveness of the document.

And Thailand's measures to eradicate AHS cause WOAH to consider restoring AHS-free status to Thailand from 10 March 2023.

When Thailand is free of AHS, Thailand is able to organize various international equestrian competitions.

Stimulate related tourism in the whole system

Equids animal exports will be able to proceed normally under the requirements of the Department of Livestock Development.
