The government of the South African Republic has "taken note" of the International Criminal Court's decision to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Reuters reports.

"We, as the government, are aware of our legal obligations," said the press secretary of the President of South Africa,

Vincent Magwenya

He also added that South Africa will continue to consult with relevant parties before the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit.

It was expected that the President of Russia will visit the South African Republic in August 2023 to participate in the summit of leaders of the BRICS countries, but there is no official confirmation of this yet.
