The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, had a euphoric celebration with the victory of the Mexican team against Puerto Rico in the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic.

The president, passionate about the King of Sports, published a video on his social networks, at the moment that the last out of Mexico fell and that gave him the pass to the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic.

"Let's go, let's go... Long live Mexico!"

López Obrador shouted.

Mexico accessed the semifinals of the World Classic for the first time by beating Puerto Rico 5-4.

The ninth Mexican came back from the four runs that the Puerto Ricans scored against the star pitcher, Julio Urías.

The Dodgers pitcher allowed two homers in the first inning, but it was the only damage the Caribbeans did.

The team led by Benjamín Gil reacted in the second inning, with a home run by Isaac Paredes, and then in the fifth, with a single by Alex Verdugo that pushed Alek Thomas home.

In the seventh inning, the ninth Mexican forged the victory, with a three-run rally to achieve a historic victory.

Mexico reached the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic for the first time in its history, after its best performance was in 2006, when it placed sixth in the contest.

The rival of the ninth Mexican will be Japan for the pass to the final and will be played next Monday, March 20 at 5:00 p.m. (Central Mexico time).

Only pro-poor politics is greater than the passion for baseball.

The president of López Obrador has followed Mexico's matches in the World Classic, even in his daily conferences he has taken videos of plays by the Mexican team.

True to his style, he did not hide his fanaticism for this sport, about which he has spoken on more than one occasion in his morning conferences and more since the World Baseball Classic began, where the ninth Mexican has achieved a historic result.
