When the United Kingdom provided Ukraine with 14 four "Challenger 2" (Challenger 2) main combat vehicles in early January, it also announced the provision of 32 "AS90" self-propelled howitzers to add combat power to the Ukrainian artillery unit.

According to BAE Systems, the manufacturer of the "Archer", the "Archer" is equipped with a fully automatic 155 mm 52-caliber howitzer with a rate of fire of up to 8 rounds per minute.

It is also highly maneuverable, and can fire and shift positions within one minute after receiving an attack order, avoiding enemy counterattacks and improving the survivability of the crew.

The "Archer" adopts a fully automated ammunition loading operation and artillery firing procedures. The three vehicle crew members including the driver can remotely launch in the cockpit, and can even be operated by a single person if necessary.

When firing traditional shells, the maximum range can reach 40 kilometers, and if using precision-guided ammunition such as the XM-982 Excalibur, it can reach a range of 50 kilometers.
