Four passengers from Bihar were killed and 28 others were injured when a bus overturned in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday morning.

The bus overturned when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in Barsu area of ​​south Kashmir's Pulwama district, officials said.

He said that the four passengers killed in the accident were residents of Bihar.

He told that 23 out of 28 passengers injured in the accident have been admitted to different hospitals for treatment.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the accident.

He directed the district administration to provide all possible help to the affected people.

Sinha tweeted, “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate bus accident that took place in Avantipora today, in which many valuable lives were lost and many people were injured.

I have issued instructions to the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to the affected persons.

The Lieutenant Governor said that the district administration is in touch with the families of the victims in Bihar to provide all possible help.

He said, "My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and I wish the injured a speedy recovery."

An official spokesperson quoted the Lieutenant Governor's directive as saying that Pulwama Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bashir-ul-Haq has announced an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased.

Haque also announced a relief of Rs 25,000 for the seriously injured and Rs 10,000 for those with minor injuries, the spokesman said.

Haque later visited SMHS and Bone and Joint Hospital to inquire about the health of the injured.
