[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] The Egyptian government received representatives from Israel and Palestine in the port city of Sharm el-Sheikh (Sharm el-Sheikh) on the 19th, aiming to quell the surge of violence in the West Bank before the Muslim Ramadan. China and Jordan will also send representatives to attend.

According to Reuters, the five-party talks were held due to the active mediation of the United States.

The Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement that the meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh "supports the dialogue between the Palestinian and Israeli sides in an effort to curb unilateral actions, end the cycle of violence and achieve the ultimate goal of peace".

The Egyptian foreign ministry also noted that the talks are expected to create "an atmosphere for the resumption of the peace process".

On February 26 this year, Israel and Palestine pledged to ease the turbulent situation in a similar meeting, but the two sides have so far failed to prevent the escalation of the conflict.

The Muslim fasting month of Ramadan begins in late March.

During Ramadan in previous years, violent incidents between Israeli police and Palestinians often broke out around the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

This year's Ramadan coincides with the Jewish Passover and the Christian Easter, and people from all walks of life are worried that more violent conflicts may break out as a result.
