As a result of strong earthquakes in Ecuador and northern Peru, at least 13 people have died.

Rescuers have started a search operation, because there are still residents under the rubble. 

This is reported by the Associated Press. 

As it turned out, the earthquake, the epicenter of which was recorded in the coastal Ecuadorian region of Guayas, was also felt in the neighboring country.

Peru's Prime Minister Alberto Otarola said that a 4-year-old girl died in the Tumbes region after suffering a head injury when her house collapsed.

Cristian Torres, Ecuador's risk management minister, said that the earthquake killed 11 people in the coastal state of El Oro, and another person died in the mountainous state of Azuay.
