Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Moscow on March 20-22 in order to discuss sanctions evasion schemes with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, as well as Beijing's interest in mediating the settlement of the war in Ukraine.

This is stated in the report of analysts of the Institute for the Study of War.

Highlights: Moscow has said that Putin and Xi plan to sign bilateral documents, the content of which is currently unknown.

They also plan to discuss topical issues of comprehensive partnership between the Russian Federation and China.

"Xi probably plans to discuss with Putin and Russian officials schemes to circumvent sanctions that will facilitate the sale and provision of Chinese equipment to Russia," ISW experts are convinced.

It was previously reported that Chinese companies sold parts for drones and equipment that could be used for military purposes to the Russians.

And Western intelligence agencies said that the leadership of the People's Republic of China is considering the possibility of providing Russia with lethal weapons.

By the way, ISW believes that on March 1, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, and Xi signed a package of 16 agreements that can facilitate the circumvention of Russian sanctions by promoting Chinese products through Belarus.

Analysts note that Xi aims to contribute to Chinese efforts aimed at positioning Beijing as an impartial mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

"China on February 24 unveiled a 12-point peace plan for the war in Ukraine, although it remains unclear what specifically China's proposals for a negotiated settlement of the war will include. Xi may try to use his success in brokering the restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia for broader mediation efforts in this war," the analysts added.
