[Reporter Wu Zhengfeng/Report from Taipei] Affected by bird flu and extreme weather, international egg supply and demand are out of balance and prices are skyrocketing. Our country is no exception. In order to prevent unscrupulous people from profiting from it, the "Joint Price Inspection Team" of the Executive Yuan Inter-Ministry Committee arrived on the 10th. The 4 major egg dealers jointly inspected and attacked again on the 16th to inspect the other 4 large dealers to find out whether there were any illegal activities such as price gouging and hoarding.

On the 10th, the "Joint Price Inspection Team" conducted on-site inspections on 4 major egg market vendors in the north, central and south of the country, in an effort to maintain a stable supply and demand of eggs in the country. The Council of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Fair Trade Commission, and the Consumer Protection Division of the Executive Yuan were convened again to discuss and conduct another wave of joint inspections on the other four egg marketers.

In this inspection, we went to Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Taichung City, Pingtung County and other factory sites to conduct on-the-spot investigations to find out whether the price of eggs was abnormal in the production area and whether there were hoarding or price-raising by large-scale dealers, and asked the industry to provide relevant explanations and supporting materials on the spot.

The price group stated that the follow-up will continue to conduct in-depth investigations. If any violations are found, they will be promptly transferred to the competent authorities for severe punishment to curb the violations.

In order to maintain the normal and stable supply and demand of eggs and other domestic livelihoods, the price team continues to work non-stop, trying to prevent mid- and upstream egg merchants or other unscrupulous operators from taking advantage of the opportunity to drive up prices and hoard them for small profits.

The Ministry of Justice called on manufacturers in the industry to implement good corporate spirit, fulfill their social responsibilities, and actively cooperate with the government's price stabilization policy to maintain the national economy and people's livelihood.

In addition, the whole people are welcome to supervise together. If you find that the manufacturer is driving up, hoarding, or unreasonably raising prices during the consumption process, you can call the reporting hotline at 0800-007007 and provide illegal information and evidence. The government will strictly investigate to the end. Please be at ease.
