The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine will allocate 31.6 billion hryvnias (over 850 million dollars) for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles for the armed forces, BTA reported, citing the head of the institution Yury Shtigol.

 "An additional 31.6 billion hryvnias will be allocated from the budget of the State Service for Special Communications for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Ukrainian army. We will mainly buy unmanned aerial vehicles produced in Ukraine," he said on the agency's Telegram channel.

Stiegol added that the Ukrainian armed forces lose an average of 10-15 drones a day.

He recalled that the Ukrainian General Staff plans to create 60 strike companies of unmanned aircraft, and the first ten of them will be equipped in the near future. 

"The first ten companies will be created and equipped as early as this month, and as early as March they will begin to perform tasks in the eastern and southern parts of the country," the official said.

On January 28, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that this year the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles for the army will be increased, for which about 544 million dollars will be allocated from the budget, TASS recalls.
