An official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that a western disturbance is active over the Himalayan region. Due to which there is a possibility of light rain in North-West India for the next few days.

, Agra, Aligarh, Auraiya, Badayun, Bareilly, Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Etah, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Firozabad, Hapur Hardoi, Haridwar, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Kanshiram Rain or thundershower with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at a few places over Nagar, Kheri, Lucknow, Mahamaya Nagar, Mathura, Mainpuri, Meerut, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Rampur, Saharanpur, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur and Shamli. There will be showers along.

Thunderstorm, lightning warning in Chennai

IMD's Chennai Regional Meteorological Center has predicted thunder and lightning in the city in the next few hours on Friday night.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode, Salem, Coimbatore, Thiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Thirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts.

The Meteorological Department further said, "Light to moderate at one or two places in Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Vellore, Thirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Karur, Namakkal, Nilgiris and Sivagangai districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry." Possibility of storm and lightning in Maharashtra

IMD in Nagpur, Maharashtra has also issued Yellow Alert for three days and Orange Alert for 24 hours in some parts of the state.
