On March 16-17, 2023, the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Nouakchott, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

According to the information provided to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev represented the Republic of Azerbaijan at the session.

Speaking within the session, Deputy Minister F. Rzayev expressed his condolences regarding the devastating earthquake that occurred in Turkey and Syria and resulted in numerous casualties.

Noting the floods in Pakistan and Chad, the deputy minister said that Azerbaijan is ready to support the OIC's efforts to eliminate these crisis situations.

F. Rzayev gave detailed information about the process of normalization in the period after the end of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, the provocative steps of Armenia that hindered it, and mine threats.

The deputy minister informed the participants of the meeting about the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, dedicated to the issues of recovery after COVID-19.

During the speech, also on the occasion of the one year anniversary of the declaration of March 15 by the UN General Assembly as the International Day against Islamophobia, "Islamophobia is the cause of racism and discrimination" organized in Baku by the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism (BBMM), the Center for the Analysis of International Relations and the G20 Interreligious Dialogue Forum. as a specific form: New global and transnational challenges" presented information about the international conference.

At the conclusion of the Council of Ministers, 5 resolutions proposed by our country were adopted.

"Elimination of the consequences of the aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan", "Support for economic and social development activities in the territories freed from occupation of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and "Destruction and desecration of historical and cultural monuments and traces of the Islamic religion in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a result of the aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan "Resolution" resolutions categorically condemn the occupation and aggression policy committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan for nearly 30 years and express support to the government and people of Azerbaijan in the direction of eliminating the serious consequences of the occupation, as well as in the restoration and reconstruction works.

The resolution entitled "Solidarity with the victims of the Khojaly massacre of 1992" condemns the mass massacre committed against the Azerbaijani civilian population in Khojaly on February 26, 1992. ” public campaign is expressed.

In the resolution "Attack against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran" adopted by the Council of Ministers of the OIC, which includes 57 countries, the OIC member states strongly condemn the armed attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran on January 27, 2023, which resulted in death, the Iranian government called to thoroughly investigate the attack, bring the perpetrators of the attack to criminal responsibility and ensure the protection of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The resolution also welcomes the statements of the OIC Secretariat and OIC member states condemning the attack on the Embassy.
