Gao Danhua

On September 13, 105 of the Republic of China, I sorted out "Captain Liu Shutai's Memories of Wuqiu" and posted an article of less than 600 words on Facebook, which attracted more than 180 comments and more than 200 times Shares, more than 8,000 likes, and more than 140,000 people touched.

Let more people see that the officers and soldiers of the whole ship braved the wind and waves, gritted their teeth and rushed to escort the critically ill officers and soldiers, and the chilling spirit of "one life on the island, death on the island" during the "96 Taiwan Strait Crisis".

The sincere message interaction is like seeing the high morale of the officers and soldiers and the true expression of the revolutionary emotion among the officers and soldiers back then, which is very touching.

Please read on...

During his naval career, General Liu Shutai boarded Wuqiu eight times and escorted Wuqiu countless times. Wuqiu is a treasured memory in General Liu's heart.

His most impressive memory is serving as Lieutenant Colonel of the frigate (PFG) Taishan (hull number 838) (January 1, 1976 to July 1, 1977). In bad weather, we ventured to Wuqiu and evacuated the critically ill brother to Keelung Port.

That escort mission took place in the winter of the first half of Captain Liu Shutai's tenure, around the end of the 1976 Republic of China.

The Marine Corps brother had severe abdominal pain, his blood pressure dropped to 40 or 50, and his life was in critical condition, which exceeded the ability of the medical officers on the island to treat him.

The helicopter was unable to land on Wuqiu due to the bad weather, and had to rely on the frigate to evacuate it with the help of Class 9 wind and waves.

The Taishan ship sailed to Wuqiu under strong wind and huge waves. After receiving the patient in the offshore, it was supposed to send Ma Gong with the wind, but when the injured patient just returned to the voyage, his blood pressure kept dropping and he vomited blood. It is critical. After evaluation, only by sending it to Keelung and transferring it to the third president can the life be saved.

Fortunately, the last three presidents had emergency surgery and saved a life.

Liu Shutai now recalls that the decision to send him to Keelung overnight was correct.

Sailing from Wuqiu to Keelung in winter is against the wind and waves. In order to save people, they cannot slow down. The wind and waves are extremely bad.

After arriving in Keelung, all the officers and men of the ship sat paralyzed on the pier, and there was a lot of wind damage on board. Fortunately, people were rescued safely, and the commander also understands that Liu Shutai's responsibility for the wind damage was not checked.

Liu Shutai still remembers that when the ambulance arrived at the pier, he patted the patient on the shoulder and said, "I am the captain. We have sent you to Keelung Port. The Sanhui will give you the best treatment."

The non-commissioned officer of the Marine Corps was inconvenient to say thanks, and shed tears of gratitude.

During the Taiwan Strait crisis in 1996, Liu Shutai served as the colonel commander of the Navy's Guantong system. Information showed that the CCP intended to capture Wuqiu. He immediately brought a group of personnel to the Uqiu radar station to strengthen combat readiness and boost morale.

Every officer and soldier on the stand is fully armed, with bullets attached to their bodies, and the chilling aura of "one life on the island, death on the island" is still unforgettable.

He asked the webmaster what else he needs?

The station master replied: "We will fight to the end, if unfortunately die, please take care of my family."

Liu Shutai said that at the moment of life and death before the war, the officers and soldiers of the national army thought of defending their homes and the country, not the lifetime pension after retirement as some sour people said.

Li Kuntian, three times and three times, will never forget the mission of Wuqiu in this life.

He said: "I was the captain of the small boat and the corporal of the first team. We set off from Penghu in the afternoon. At that time, there was a typhoon, and the wind and rain along the way were extremely heavy. The process was really frightening, and we returned to Keelung. It was already midnight. Of the 180 or so officers and soldiers on the ship, only eleven were not seasick, and we found out the next day that our hull was also severely damaged. I also remember that when we arrived at Wuqiu, it seemed that fishing boats were used to evacuate patients on the island.”

Wu Junyi of the 362nd echelon served two years and nine months on the Taishan warship from 1975 to 1978 in the Republic of China. He was the helmsman when the Wuqiu patient was evacuated.

He said: "The Wuqiu incident is still deeply remembered. That mission with us was the 843 Zhongshan ship. At that time, the voyage measured the walrus level 14, which is really unforgettable. I am the helmsman, and things in the cockpit are flying around. We The captain worked very hard. The waves were about five floors high, and they continued to go up and down. Occasionally, the captain vomited behind him. If I remember correctly, Captain Liu was gnawing on a steamed bun while vomiting, and he worked hard to direct the entire ship's course. The sound of glass breaking one after another I only know that things are flying around, the sea water is constantly beating the entire cockpit, and in the dark night, I can’t see the surroundings at all. In addition to up and down, the ship is tilted about 45 degrees left and right. At that time, I felt that the whole ship would disintegrate or sink. Actually I was terrified in my heart! I think that for three years in the navy, no one on the Taishan warship at that time could forget this passage, especially the engineers!"

I really can't forget it.

In three or six or three steps, Radar Corporal Yang Hongyu recalled: "From October 1975 to March 1978, the Taishan War was fought. I was also fortunate to be able to complete this Wuqiu mission with Captain Liu Shutai. It was at the end of 1976, 8 On March 8th, the Taishan warship berthed at Magong Cetian Island, Penghu, and was about to sail to Xinbin Wharf for typhoon defense due to the typhoon. I have already drawn up the sailing plan and route diagram, and compiled the navigation sergeant Liu Jisheng. I will happily go to Kaohsiung Xinbin for typhoon defense. When we were on the wharf before the roll call, Weng Shixiong, the deputy chief, got off the ship in a hurry and announced that he was going to Wuqiu to pick up the wounded marines. Departure. Due to the lack of personnel along the way, the voyage was divided into left and right shifts. It was the first time that I encountered such a big wave. Even the chart could not be glued to the chart table. Even the radar chair that usually needs two people to carry had to be carried Tightly tied up. I vomited until I finished vomiting bile, and my whole body was spread out in the war room. The waves were five floors high, and the bow of the ship slid through the waves, and sank, only the sound of the hull steel plate being rubbed by the waves was heard. The body feels like it is about to be disintegrated, and the cabins of the three teams are more obvious at the bow. After docking, there are less than ten people left alive and well. It is found that the five-inch gun in the bow of the ship is crooked, and the toolbox of the team in the bow is completely missing. , and the bow railings are all missing. The 843 Zhongshan ship that accompanied me also returned to Hong Kong lamely because of a loss. I have been in the army for three years. This is the biggest storm I have encountered. Climbing Mount Tai and making the world small, a navy for a day and a navy for life!"

In 843, the Zhongshan ship was the flagship of the mission. Because the speed of the Taishan ship was relatively high, the Taishan ship was accelerated into Wuqiu to pick up the wounded and evacuate.

Liu Shutai really vividly remembered the mission: "That trip was the mission of Mr. Gao (flagship) and me (the ship). The wind was force nine that day, and it was about to go down, but there was still 30 miles to go, because my ship was faster than the flagship. Hurry up, the detachment leader (flagship stationed) temporarily decided to pick up people on my ship. My ship speeds up and advances ahead of the defense zone to pick up patients. After all, saving lives comes first. The PFG frigate (now decommissioned) is fully loaded With a draft of more than 2,000 tons, it is not possible to berth at Wuqiu Wharf, but in the deep water area outside the wharf, and then use small boats to pick up patients.”

Since the small boats were used to pick up patients, why did they use fishing boats to carry patients to the Taishan ship after arriving in Wuqiu?

Wang Dengli is the amphibious team of the Daqiu Command, and they are responsible for all connections.

He clearly remembered that he was the one who connected the brother with stomach bleeding to board the boat.

He said that the wind and waves were really strong at that time, so big that the small boat could not get out of the small hill, and he was finally connected by the villagers' fishing boats.

Hong Renfu said that LCM No. 3 Squadron came out of the small hill tunnel to connect with Daqiu, and the walruses were even more terrifying.

In this scene, Zeng Minnan, who changed defense and set foot on Wuqiu on October 10, 1976, sincerely admired Liu Shutai for saving the brothers of the Marine Corps.

He left a message to Liu Shutai on my Facebook: "At that time, I served as the chief counselor of the West Defense Lieutenant. The Marine Corps brothers you transported back to Taiwan, even though I was not an officer and soldier, also heard about your heroic deeds. Thank you!"
