From the end of Saturday afternoon and during the course of Sunday, the areas of showers, rains and electrical storms will increase in the western region of Cuba, a situation associated with the proximity and transit over that territory of cold front number 13, of the winter season 2022-2023.

by Carlos Manuel González, a Master of Science in Sciences associate researcher at the Meteorology Institute's Forecasting Center, who specified that the expected slow movement of the system should extend the rainfall until Monday the 20th.

Bad weather conditions, he asserted, will be favored by the presence of strong winds at a height of 12 kilometers, which will provide a humid flow in the high levels of the troposphere.

This factor, in combination with the predominance of temperatures below minus 7 degrees Celsius at a height of five kilometers and the warm air on the surface, will favor atmospheric instability throughout western Cuba, he stressed.

As indicated by Carlos Manuel González, there is a probability that, in a timely manner, the storms will become severe, hence the importance of paying attention to the information issued by the Forecast Center.
