Grain ATM has been installed in Jankipuram area of ​​Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow on March 15 and till now grains (rice and wheat) have been distributed to about 150 ration card holders.

In Lucknow, Kotedar (fair price shop owner) Pankaj Giri told PTI, "The government has provided this grain ATM and it has started functioning from this month itself.

Earlier, it used to take about 2-3 minutes to deliver food grains to the card holder, but now it is being supplied in 30 seconds.

Through this, food grains have been distributed to 100-150 ration card holders so far.

Giri said, 'There is no scope for underweight in the food grains being distributed through ATMs.'

State Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Satish Sharma told PTI-language that 'currently seven such grain ATMs are working in the country and three of them have been set up in Lucknow, Varanasi and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh'.

Sharma said that the ration card holder will get three kg of rice and two kg of wheat after putting his thumb on the EPOS machine at the fair price shop.

Appreciating the ATM, Sharma said, 'This machine will certainly curb the already prevalent Ghatauli (underweighing) and this will bring transparency.

With this, the ration card holder will get his due.
