Russian human rights defender, lawyer and oppositionist Mark Feigin gave his assessment of how Russian President Vladimir Putin would behave in the event of a successful counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He told about this in an interview with TSN.ua.

"What will Putin do if another piece of some occupied territory falls off. Most likely, there would be

some reserve for propaganda explanations, as with Kherson:

"All questions are not for us.

It's all up to the Ministry of Defense." How many of these reserves will he have... will he be able to say that about Crimea? Most likely, not anymore," Feigin believes.

"If we are talking about some pieces of territory in the south or east, then you can somehow say that the front is moving there, the front is moving here.

But there is such a very dangerous tendency in this mechanics

, because no one was going to fight back and forth, back and forth. After all, they were going - in two or three days and that's all. And that's not the case. And the deadlines are running: one year has already passed, the second has passed," the oppositionist pointed out.

He noted that the reserve for such propagandistic explanations is not infinite and at a certain point they will become simply ridiculous.

After that, Russians will feel that Putin is a failure.

"If there is a big defeat with the loss of a piece of territory, comparable to the Kharkiv operation at the beginning of September,

he will probably still be able to come back somehow. But that's all.

Then it will look ridiculous. Because only China can save with terror, investments and economic support his (Putin - ed.) power, but morally, this foundation will be severely cracked.

Both in the people, in the power structures, and in the elite, there will be a sense of failure

: that Putin is a failure, he has led to a catastrophe, to ruin, to the change of such a calm way of life. And for what? For the sake of defeat, not for the sake of victory. Victory justifies everything, and defeat - never and nothing," Fagin said.

It will be recalled that earlier another Russian oppositionist and publicist Andriy Piontkovsky expressed the opinion that Putin needs a protracted war without victory or defeat, because this will allow the dictator to retain his power.

Now the master of the Kremlin is losing control over "what is happening under his nose."
