The Sofia City Court will decide whether to release the man who caused the serious accident on the capital's Ring Road.
Dimitar Ljubenov, who has been in custody since the end of last September, is accused of causing - with possible intent - the death of a French citizen and serious injuries to his wife.
The prosecutor's office filed the most serious charge against him after examinations found that he was driving under the influence of drugs and at almost 200 km per hour.
As part of the investigation, it became clear that shortly before the serious incident, Ljubenov was stopped by a police patrol and for BGN 200 he was allowed to continue and even escorted to the Ring Road.
Charges for this were brought against the former employees of the Metropolitan 6th District Police Department, Lyubka Gecheva and Georgi Malinski.
