Tomorrow, March 18, in the Orthodox calendar,

is the day of memory of St. Conon of Mandon

.

He lived in the III century during the reign of Emperor Decius Trajan in the Pamphylian city of Mandon.

Not far from the settlement, Konon planted a small garden and ate only what he grew himself.

Local residents considered him a kind and simple-minded person.

He believed in God and tried to live honestly, even though he was ignorant.

Once the new governor Publius came to the city.

He really disliked Christians and wanted to completely destroy them.

The soldiers told Publius about Conon and he ordered to bring the man to court.

There, the governor said to choose: renounce God or die.

Conon thought for a short time and chose faith in the Lord.

For this, many nails were driven into his feet, and then driven in front of the chariot of Publius until the man died.
