The floating power plant of Turkish origin Karadeniz Powership Irem Sultan arrived this Friday in the bay of Santiago de Cuba to provide additional energy to the National Electric System (SEN) in the eastern zone.

Raymundo González, general director of the Antonio Maceo, Renté Thermoelectric Plant, in this province, said that the installation of the patana, as it is also known, will increase the reliability of the SEN in the region.

Once synchronized, he commented, it will add 110 megawatts per hour to the generation of electricity on the Antillean island,

limited for several months, due to the lack of capacity.

Tugboats from the port of Santiago carried out all the safety maneuvers for an effective docking at the Renté pier, from where it will connect to the Hermanos Díaz Refinery, in this city, to supply itself with fuel and start the pertinent tests.

Once the plant is synchronized, it will add 110 megawatts per hour to the generation of electricity on the Antillean island.
