Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson is a British politician - born on June 19, 1964 in New York. His paternal great-grandfather was re-nominated as a candidate for the Conservative Party in his constituency of Uxbridge and South Ryslip in West London, reported PA media and DPA.

It comes after speculation that Johnson could try to run for the election from a constituency where he would have a better chance of being elected to parliament.

"I can confirm that Johnson has been re-nominated as the Conservative Party candidate in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency," a party spokesman said.

Johnson has a seven thousand vote majority in his traditional constituency, but it is believed that the Labor Party could "steal" his seat at the next election.

Allies of the former prime minister have already dismissed any suggestion that he is seeking a safer candidate seat.

Since leaving office last September, Johnson has claimed more than £1 million in speaking fees.

After leaving Downing Street, he also made many public statements.

For example, earlier this month he criticized London's deal with the EU, through which British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak agreed to change elements of the Northern Ireland protocol.

In a statement, the Uxbridge and South Ruislip Constituency Conservative Association said of Johnson's candidacy: "We look forward to continuing to work alongside him to serve the citizens and communities in the constituency with which Johnson has strong ties and in which he plays big role".

"Johnson's commitment to the citizens of Uxbridge and South Ruislip to open a new hospital remains at the forefront of his work as our local representative in Parliament," the association stressed.

The next election in Great Britain is expected to be held in January 2025 at the earliest, BTA notes.
