The proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament - Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha - have been adjourned till Monday.

New Delhi:

The Congress on Friday alleged that the audio in Parliament was muted to silence voices against the government.

The party shared a clip on micro-blogging website Twitter, in which the audio in the Lok Sabha seems to be switched off, while opposition parties are also seen protesting at the same time, shortly after the proceedings of the House began.

It is seen in the video clip that the MPs of the opposition are protesting by reaching the seat of the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and almost all the members of the ruling party have got up in their places.

No audio was heard in the House for about 20 minutes.

Audio returned only when the speaker started speaking.

First he kept asking the MPs to stop making noise, then he adjourned the House for the day.

The government has not given any explanation as to why there was no audio in the Lok Sabha.

Slogans were raised - let Rahul ji speak... let him speak.. let him speak.

Then Om Birla smiled and the House became mute.

Is this a democracy?

The Congress said in a tweet in Hindi, "Earlier the mike used to be off, today the proceedings of the House were muted..."

The party also made another tweet for this, in which it was written, "Slogans - Rahul ji ko bolne do... Bolne do... Bolne do... Then Om Birla smiled and the house became muted... This democracy." Is...?"

In the third tweet of the Congress, an icon of audio mute has been posted with a picture of the Parliament House.

The Congress has alleged that the mike of the House was deliberately switched off to stifle the opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani-Hindenburg dispute.

The party also alleged that the BJP has decided that Rahul Gandhi will not be allowed to speak in Parliament.
