The European Commission will present today the main elements of its strategy, the aim of which is to ensure a leading role for the EU in the "green industrial revolution", reported Reuters.
The strategy must ensure that the industrial sector of the European Union will be able to compete with the US and China in the creation of products through technologies that do not pollute the environment and in the access to raw materials that are necessary for the ecological transition.
In 2020, EU greenhouse gas emissions are lower than in 1990.
The EC directives on "zero emission industry" and on "critical raw materials", which are part of the "Industrial Green Deal" plan, aim to ensure that the EU becomes a leader in the creation and use of technologies, necessary to reduce harmful carbon dioxide emissions, notes Reuters.
