[Reporter Zhou Minhong/Taoyuan Report] Gongpu Elementary School in Luzhu District, Taoyuan City continues the tradition of using dragon dance as the school's characteristic. For the dragon dance, more than 300 teachers and students used half a year to revise the course time, build bamboo frames, paint dragon skins, and work together to complete the dragon dance about 40 meters long.

The Dragon Skate Team of Gongpu Elementary School has been invited to perform at events such as the Palace of Five Fortunes, Hokkien Cultural Festival, civil society gatherings, or company expansion celebrations. In order to pray for safety, the dragon dance began. Due to the impact of industrialization, the custom of dragon dancing declined. Residents donated 3 dragon dances to the school one after another, which brought the school's dragon-skating atmosphere.

In order to let the dragon skating team have new dragon dances and let more students inherit the dragon dance culture, Lin Laili invited Mr. Zhang Shengjie from the Miaoli County Hakzhuang Cultural Development Association to guide the teachers and students to use the revised course time to build bamboo and plastic frames. After making the keel and painting the cloth with acrylic paint as the dragon skin, residents, teachers and students were invited to assemble it in the school playground in the morning, and together they completed the 40-meter-long dragon dance.

Chen, a student in grade 6, said that the physical education class in the school has a lesson on how to control the dragon dance. Great sense of accomplishment.

Now she and her classmates can complete a dragon dance together, and this dragon dance will be performed in various places in the future. It feels really cool!
