The government and people of Azerbaijan have been mobilized to provide humanitarian aid to brother Turkey since the earthquake occurred.


APA reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said these words in his speech at the Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States held in Ankara on March 16.


The head of our state said that 940 people from Azerbaijan, including rescuers, medical personnel and volunteers, were sent to the earthquake region.

"According to the number of rescuers sent to Turkey, Azerbaijan was the first among the countries of the world.

As a result of the efforts of the rescuers and our doctors, 53 people were rescued from the rubble.

Also, the bodies of 780 people were found under the rubble.

"Our medical personnel provided medical services to more than 3,000 people," President Ilham Aliyev said.


The President of Azerbaijan also noted that more than 45 million US dollars have been transferred to the bank accounts of AFAD and other humanitarian institutions.

In addition, 5300 tons of humanitarian aid was delivered.
