"Azerbaijan, which achieved a historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, freed its lands from occupation.

Our country, which won the war at that time, is taking confident steps and achieving success in the post-war period.

Important steps are being taken for the return of West Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands."

Vugar Iskanderov, a member of the Milli Majlis, said this in his statement to APA.

The deputy said that on December 24 of last year, President Ilham Aliyev specifically focused on this issue during his meeting with a group of members of the West Azerbaijan Community: "For information, let me note that in his speech at that meeting, President Ilham Aliyev, in addition to reminding of the tragedies our people have faced for many years, also mentioned the modern He also touched on the tasks ahead in the circumstances.

From this point of view, we can note that one of the most important strategic tasks facing our people in the context of new realities is to return to our historical lands, Western Azerbaijan.

After that, the work done in a short time is commendable."

According to Vugar Iskanderov, these works are carried out in all areas: "At the same time, our head of state raises this issue within the framework of international events.

On March 16, this issue was discussed at the Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Ankara.

The President of Azerbaijan gave an important message to the world by declaring that Armenia should ensure the rights and security of West Azerbaijanis at the Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States.

In his speech at the event, the President said that the decision of the Soviet government in November 1920 to separate Western Zangezur, our historical land, from Azerbaijan and give it to Armenia led to the geographical separation of the Turkic world.

Until 1991, all Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled from the territory of present-day Armenia.

As in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, Armenia destroyed our cultural heritage, mosques, and historical monuments in the territory of present-day Armenia, that is, in Western Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani community has repeatedly appealed to UNESCO to send a fact-finding mission to this country for the purpose of monitoring the cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people in present-day Armenia, and expects a positive response from UNESCO.

Our compatriots, who were subjected to ethnic cleansing in West Azerbaijan, have now united in the West Azerbaijan Community.

They set a goal of peaceful return to the historical lands.

"According to the Concept of Return developed by the West Azerbaijan Community, an international agreement with an appropriate verification and guarantee mechanism and legally binding for the return of Azerbaijanis forcibly deported from the territory of Armenia should be reached."

The deputy noted that both Armenia and the world community should end their silent approach to this issue: "As the head of state declared, we, as the state of Azerbaijan, will ensure the individual rights and security of the Armenian residents living in Karabakh, and Armenia, based on the principle of reciprocity, will protect the West Azerbaijanis." must ensure their rights and safety".
